About Jawa Motorcycle

JAWA (Czech pronunciation ) is a motorcycle and moped manufacturer founded in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1929 by František Janeček, who bought the motorcycle division of Wanderer. The name JAWA was established by concatenating the first letters of Janeček and Wanderer. In the past, especially in the 1950s, JAWA was one of the top motorcycle manufacturers and exported its 350 model to over 120 countries. The best known model was the 350 Pérák, and in the 1970s the 350 Californian. It appeared in typical black and red coloring from the US to New Zealand. After 1990 a significant loss of production occurred. A successor company was formed in 1997 in Týnec nad Sázavou, continuing the name as JAWA Moto.

In the Indian market the brand JAWA Motorcycles was resurrected in December 2018 by Classic Legends, which is owned by Mahindra & Mahindra, through a licensing deal with the original Czech company JAWA Moto.

Business Model: Choosing the One That Suits You

In India, there are two types of business models for those who want to start a bike showroom, and that is:

Dealer Point

The model requires you to invest significant capital and have vast space to have a showroom for selling bikes and a workshop for offering repair & maintenance services.

Authorised Sales & Service Center (ASSC)

Though it requires a little less investment, you would again need two establishments, a showroom for selling, and a workshop for servicing.

Based on the funds you have and the space available with you, you can choose one of the two business models. Remember, there is a minimum distance that is being maintained between two selling outlets by the bike brands. So, before you settle on anything, check whether you would be able to open the showroom in the given locality or not.

Business Plan: Building the Right Strategy

This one won’t take much of your time and effort, for the motorbike dealership industry is believed to be highly organised. In fact, at the time of franchise registration itself, the bike manufacturing company lets you know in & out of the infrastructure and vehicle lifting process. So, creating a business plan isn’t at all bothering. However, you may require to put in all the time & effort you have saved in building the business strategy in creating the marketing plan. A bike dealership business requires you to run effective brand awareness and sales promotion campaigns. Opening discount is something that every business offers, you can offer more schemes & benefits initially apart from this.

Location Assessment: How to Choose the Perfect Location?

The location happens to be one of the most crucial factors for running any business successfully, and a bike showroom business is no different. Some of the factors that you need to consider while choosing a location are:

  • It should have space for a broad front window
  • It should have an easy parking facility
  • There should be dedicated spaces for selling counter, accessories as well as the insurance desk

Whatever business model you have opted for, you would be informed about the space requirement by the JAWA Bike manufacturing company also.

I am planning to buy the dealership of Jawa motorcycle. Will it be a correct decision as there is no showroom and service centre of Jawa motorcycle here in my state and city?

Deciding to buy a dealership for Jawa motorcycles in a location where there is currently no showroom or service center involves several factors. Here are some points to consider:

Market Demand

  1. Local Interest: Assess the demand for motorcycles in your area. Look for potential interest in Jawa motorcycles specifically, which are known for their classic design and retro appeal.
  2. Competitor Analysis: Research existing motorcycle brands and their market share. Understanding what competitors offer can help you position Jawa effectively.

Brand Strength

  1. Reputation: Jawa has a nostalgic brand image and a loyal customer base. Evaluate how this reputation could resonate in your area.
  2. Marketing Support: Check if the company provides marketing support for new dealerships, including promotional materials, advertising, and events.

Initial Investment

  1. Cost Analysis: Consider the initial investment required for setting up the dealership, including showroom space, inventory, and operational costs.
  2. Financial Projections: Create a financial model to estimate potential sales, profits, and break-even points.

Service and Support

  1. Service Requirements: Owning a dealership also means ensuring customers have access to service and repairs. Consider how you will manage service needs, including hiring qualified technicians and obtaining parts.
  2. Customer Experience: A strong service center can enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty, so plan for this aspect carefully.

Location and Accessibility

  1. Visibility and Foot Traffic: Choose a location that is easily accessible and visible to potential customers.
  2. Local Regulations: Understand any local business regulations or zoning laws that might affect your dealership.
